Root canal treatment is a dental procedure to relieve dental pain, aimed at eliminating infection from the root canal system to save your tooth.
A tooth suffered from root canal infection when bacteria from our oral cavity find their way into the privileged space of the tooth called the pulp chamber, which harbors vital tissues such as nerves and blood vessels. This can happen due to decay, cracks, and defective fillings.
During treatment, an endodontist specializing in root canal procedures removes the infected pulp tissues, cleans, disinfects, shapes the root canals, and places a filling to seal the space; to create a platform conducive for the body to heal. Generally, successful control of infection ranges from 80% to 90%.
